Artifact #3 WikiSpaces Training
This training may have been my favorite of the year! I feel as though this was a very comprehensive and well planned training for our planning period meetings.
We started the planning period by viewing the Ted Speaker Adora Svitak and then used Wall Wisher to reflect on what we had seen. It's a great tool for visible thinking and I think our teachers enjoyed using that medium to post their thoughts. Next we learned about shifting the learning paradigm from Instructor Centered to Student Centered and how Web Quests fit in well with that model. Finally, we created wikispaces educator accounts for everyone and set up their basic web quest pages and navigation.
The only thing I wish we had been able to do differently was to have had more time to actually set up each page in our wikis. It's really hard to train on a Web 2.0 tool in only 45 minutes and having more time would have been beneficial. Many of our teachers were really excited about it and ready to use it!
